Cape Town marks the half way point of our cruise and it is one of my favourite ports on our itinerary. Beautiful city and beautiful location with the magnificent one million year old Table Rock as its backdrop, not to mention the many lovely wineries not far out in the countryside.

We had three days here with a lovely Around the World special event at the Boschendal Winery in the wine region of Franschhoek Valley in the western cape which dates back to 1685 and has been maintained by generations of families. Farm to table food, Boschendal’s fine wines, music of a Marimba band all made for a lovely afternoon. Another day I did a tour to the Stellenbosch area where we visited several wineries, including Verlegen & Morgenster and had more delightful wines and delicious eats at each one.

We had a fun evening at Gold Restaurant. Billed as an African taste safari, it did not disappoint. Music and native dress, food and dance, it was a treat for the eyes, ears and taste buds.
